Gordon Willis was a photographer from USA that work all his life in Hollywood as a "cinematographer". He was a very important person because his unique way to see and show the spaces and characters. He believed that he had to not only make the images were harmonious, but should be consistent with the content, be part of the film, and that makes a beautiful cinematography. This thought led him to be the cinematographer of The Godfather saga where he won the nickname of "The Prince of Darkness", by showing the godfather Vitto Corleone (Marlon Blando) under shadows that hid his features, image immortalized the sicilian mafia character.
Also made the photography of some films by Woody Allen, still well remembered the image of Brooklyn Bridge at dawn in "Manhattan".
In 2009 he was awarded a special Oscar for lifetime achievement. He died in 2014.
